See below for some photographs taken from various sources. Hurricane Matthew hit Edisto with high winds, rain and storm surge. As of now, 3 homes were completely wiped out and many more are not structurally sound. 

The beach area of Edisto is without power & water and is estimated to be that way for another couple weeks. Parts of the island are starting to regain power and people are slowly starting to make their way back home.

Thanks to the amazing individuals in Edisto working to get it back to the Edisto we know! 

I hope everyone is in a safe place while Hurricane Matthew threatens the coast. Before I evacuated Edisto, I completed the last two inventories. I also removed all the mile markers that were on the beach to help us locate nests. So the nesting season is complete! Just organizing and writing the report is left.

I evacuated Edisto Island on Wednesday as there was a mandatory evacuation by 3pm and all roads on the island were switched to outgoing traffic. Staying tuned to the Weather Channel to see what this Hurricane does.
